When the haunting of Rushmore Cave begins, who knows what will happen to the rest of Rush Mountain!
If you dare, take in the rare opportunity for night rides on the Mountain Coaster, Zip Ride and Gunslinger 7D Theater. The tickets for Night Rides are separate from The Haunting of Keystone tickets. Rides open at 6pm and close at 10pm on Fridays & Saturdays and at 8pm on Sundays during the haunt.
Venture underground into history and mystery with the Paranormal Tour at Rushmore Cave, offered only during the last tour of the day on Haunting of Keystone dates
First discovered in 1876 and explored by gold miners, their wives, and children, the cave holds stories that have never been fully told. While no official records of deaths exist, many of the early documents were lost in the devastating 1972 Rapid City flood—leaving room for unsettling questions and unexplained encounters. In total darkness, with only a flashlight in hand, you’ll hear chilling tales and learn about two real investigations conducted by Black Hills Paranormal Investigations. This tour takes a different route from the normal daily guided cave tour.
Tickets will be available online at RushMtn.com or at the door—dare to see what lingers in the shadows.
Rushmore Cave is 1 of the 3 destinations that makes up the Haunting of Keystone. The other 2 are located at Big Thunder Gold Mine and the Keystone Schoolhouse Museum. Ticket bundles include all 3 haunts.
Can you imagine…..night rides???!!! The dark and scary mountain coaster, screaming “evil” zipline and Gunslinger 7D interactive ride (showing Carnival, Werewolves and Zombies) will all be operating under the cover of darkness, for a whole new experience! Tickets for these rides are separate from the Haunting of Keystone.
This is a rare opportunity for night rides. You can purchase the “Killer Deal” – all three rides (Coaster/Zipline/Gunslinger) for a bundled price or purchase individual ride tickets as well at the Rush Mountain Adventure Park ticket counter or click the button to purchase the “Killer Deal” now.
Please note that the night ride tickets begin at 6pm, but close 1 hour prior to the end of the Haunting of Keystone’s hours each night. (You are not able to take the night rides before opening time.)

NOTE: Location is on South Dakota Highway 40 between Keystone & Hermosa (About 5 miles East of Keystone, SD)
The haunt is generally the last 3 or 4 weekends in October. The event runs on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-11pm and on Sunday nights from 6-9pm (Oct 10-26, 2025).
Dress for the weather. The attractions at Rush Mountain are outside and move at a pretty quick rate of speed. Dress accordingly; layers are good. We recommend a hat and gloves if it is cold. Please also wear closed-toe and closed-heel non-slip shoes or boots.
The attractions at Rush Mountain Adventure Park are built on the side of a hill/mountain. There are several steep inclines and many sets of stairs in order to get from one attraction to the next. Inside the Rushmore Cave haunt, you will not go through the entire cave, but there will be places with tight spaces, uneven ground, stooping for low ceiling, and some stairs.
