Adventure Tour

Try an Xpedition Adventure Tour and go spelunking!

This is a true caving adventure that requires belly crawling through some tight spaces. Our experienced guides will lead you through some areas off of the main tour route that almost no one else sees. This extreme adventure is not for the faint of heart and is not recommended for the claustrophobic. We offer three tour options:  The Bookworm Alley Tour, The Fairyland Tour, or the Combo Tour that includes the best of both routes.

The Rushmore Cave Bookworm Alley tour offers guests a true caving experience. This tour takes place in a section of the cave known for its small passage crawls and tight squeezes. This tour is a great introduction to the world of spelunking.
Fairyland Tour

Fairyland Tour

The Rushmore Cave Fairyland tour offers guests a chance to see more of our beautiful, pristine cave formations. While this tour does not have as much small passage crawling as the Bookworm Alley tour, it does have its own challenges. Cavers will descend through small openings and make their way into a lower level of Rushmore Cave. This tour takes place in some of the wettest parts of our cave. Be prepared to walk and crawl through mud.
Combo Tour

Experience the best of both routes on the Combo Tour. Crawl through Bookworm Alley and see the wonders of Fairyland.

Tour Schedule: Tours run daily from May 29th through July 31st at 10:30am and 2:00pm.  (Please call for availability outside of these dates.)

Tour includes a free digital souvenir photo, headlamp and 20% off Adventure Tour shirt. Reservations recommended, walk-ons welcome if space available; no refunds will be given. Discounts do not apply.

To qualify for tour, guests must make it through a space 10″ x 22″. Guests need to be sure they can make the crawl before they make reservation. To test this at home we recommend the guest put a tension rod 10″ high in a doorway and crawl under. You will need to wear long pants, shoes with a sturdy sole, long sleeve shirt recommended. You will get dirty, expect that. We supply caving helmets, headlamps, knee pads and elbow pads. All guests must sign a waiver.  Tour lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours. The max tour is 5 guests and a trip leader. Minimum age is 12, with parent or legal guardian signing the waiver. Guests that are 16 and under must have a parent or legal guardian accompany them on the tour.
